Cosplay Questions please help?
ok so im going to be going to my first cosplay convention (anime expo i believe i know its awhile away but still if i have to start making a costume…) anyway i want to go as Roxas but….
Is it cheaper to buy one or make one?
And if its to buy one where can i get one cheap?
and the wig im not good at styling them so cheap+good place to get one?
and as for the convention…. (Lots of detail would be nice, but not needed =])
As a first timer do i have to cosplay?
what things are there to do?
about how much money am i about to spend on the whole ordeal like everything lol??
ANY HELP WOULD BE FANTASTIC THNX =]
Cheaper would probably be buying a costume. Fabric is NOT cheap. I recommend cosplaymagic.com, cos00.com & ebay seller human_go. I’ve purchased from all 3 & received it in perfect condition & great fit in about 3 – 4 weeks.
Wigs: You’re better off styling your own. Awesome tutorial: http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t= 97834
You don’t HAVE to cosplay if you don’t want to. The 1st con I went to, I didn’t cosplay, but I wished I had. There were about 3000 people there & I was like 1 out of maybe 30 people in normal street clothes. Everyone else was having an awesome times in their costumes.
Things to do: checking out vendors (shopping), video game rooms, discussion panels, photoshoots (check the con website for times & locations on this one), cosplay contest (if you choose to enter it), most cons have dances & concerts, some cons are starting boffer fighting (fun to watch, never actually joined in myself), Anime Central (Chicago) has a car show (all embellished with the logo), TONS of stuff in general.
Money: depends. The cost of the ticket in (if not pre-ordered), hotel room (if you stay there), shopping……I usually bring like $400 in spending money………but that’s because I buy a lot from the vendors. But I always end up with lots left over. Most people I know only bring $100 – $200 in spending money.
Have fun!

It is always cheaper to buy one, if you can hit up the thrift stores for the long jacket. I do not know if you want the big clunky boots as well,
You are NEVER compelled to cosplay, OK? You can go as yourself if you wish
Things to do?
There are panels taht discuss the state of manga, the interest in yaoi, the latest offerings from certain companies. Industry leaders give small talks. Lots of anime to be seen. perhaps you want to hit the card room hte manga library, the game shows (one I went to had a kind of jeopardy for anime & manga)
There is always lots to do
